System Engineer
Do you want to be part of facilitating the green transition? Do you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your actions drive meaningful change? Do you enjoy solving hard problems together with ambitious people? If this sounds like you, this could be a perfect match.
Join us to facilitate the green transition
Electrification and the transition to fossil-free energy create fantastic opportunities for us as individuals, as a company, and for society at large. However, it also creates challenges, especially for our energy system. Ingrid Capacity is an energy tech company founded in 2022, and we are determined to solve some of the hardest challenges that stand in the way of the green transition by leveraging new technology and pioneering software development. We develop and optimize flexible energy assets such as large-scale battery energy storage to store electricity when there is a production surplus and return it to the system when there is a shortage. This ensures the stability of the grid, increases the uptake of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, and maximizes the utilization of the grid in a cost-efficient manner.
Today, Ingrid Capacity is in a rapid growth phase with a historic expansion of energy storage in Sweden, while also expanding internationally. We are in the final phase of construction of around 200 MW and will soon enter a new phase of construction of another 200 MW, with a total development pipeline of over 5 GW across Europe.
About the role:
As a System Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and securing support systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) facilities. In this role you will work both strategically and operationally. This includes taking a leading role in ensuring robust cybersecurity for OT systems, while also owning the product management of EMS (Energy Management Systems), PPC (Power Plant Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. Your responsibilities will encompass implementing advanced security protocols, lifecycle management, overseeing system commissioning, and maintaining efficient and secure network solutions.
This role is part of the Engineering team, but you will work closely with the Asset Management and Tech teams to ensure seamless integration, security, and operation of our systems.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Cybersecurity:
- Drive the development and implementation of advanced security strategies for OT systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for operational systems, including SCADA, PPC and EMS.
- Maintain and enhance secure communication network solutions on-site, between sites, and with data centers.
- Act as the key point of contact for cybersecurity audits and incident response coordination.
Product Ownership:
- Lead lifecycle management of EMS, PPC and SCADA systems, including maintenance, procurement, and managing supplier relationships.
- Oversee the commissioning process of EMS, PPC and SCADA systems during new builds or system replacements, ensuring alignment with project goals. Note: This role does not involve direct project management of commissioning but focuses on oversight and alignment.
System Maintenance:
- Ensure the smooth and secure operation of support systems and network solutions.
- Support the development and procurement of new system solutions with a focus on security.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as a key point of contact, ensuring that relevant information is effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
To be a good match with the role, we believe that you have:
- Several years of experience in a similar role, e.g. within the energy sector.
- Experience in working with OT security and advanced network solutions.
- Fluent language skills in English, both written and verbal.
In addition, the following is highly meritorious:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (e.g. in electrical engineering, energy, or energy systems) or related field.
- Experience in working with EMS or PPC systems.
- Experience in working with assets within the energy sector.
- Experience in working with SCADA or power market integration platforms.
- Experience in working with IT security solutions.
Your personal skills
In addition to relevant work experience, we’re looking for someone with the right personal skills and motivation. Skills we evaluate for this role:
Proactivity – Ability to take initiative and manage responsibilities independently.
Problem-solving and decision-making – Capable of assessing challenges, drawing conclusions, and prioritizing effectively.
Analytical skills – You know how to collect and assess vast amounts of information, identify patterns and trends.
Communication and relationship-building skills – You are a highly communicative individual, able to maintain effective and professional communication with team members and external partners.
Team player – You thrive in a collaborative environment and work seamlessly with colleagues and management to achieve common goals.
