Grid Manager Germany
Do you want to be part of facilitating the green transition? Do you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your actions drive meaningful change? Do you enjoy solving hard problems together with ambitious people? If this sounds like you, this could be a perfect match.
Join us to facilitate the green transition
Ingrid Capacity was born out of this necessity. The old energy system is broken, and we’re here to rewrite the rules. We are a pioneering energy tech company on a mission to shape the future of energy by advancing power grid flexibility and optimization. By using the latest technologies in energy infrastructure and software development, we are building an intelligent, resilient, and sustainable energy system designed for the future.
What we do
We develop, own, and optimize grid-scale battery energy storage and flexible assets across Europe. Using advanced grid analytics, we strategically position our assets where they can support the electricity grid the most. With AI and data algorithmic solutions, combined with large-scale energy storage, we enable a faster and safer integration of renewable energy while eliminating grid challenges.
Since our founding in early 2022, we have emerged as the Nordic leader in enhancing energy system flexibility. We are currently driving an unprecedented expansion, deploying 400 MW of energy storage capacity across 20+ sites in Sweden by 2025 and building innovative software solutions that enhances grid flexibility. At the same time, we are leading our expansion across Europe, starting with Finland, Germany and other key European regions.
We are looking for a curious and forward-thinking Grid Manager to join our growing team in Germany to help expand our renewables energy business. You will play an important role in developing ongoing and future projects, obtaining and optimizing grid connections and minimizing costs throughout the whole lifecycle. As a Grid Manager you will work cross functionally with all teams and serve as the technical link between the Project Development team and the Engineering team. Together, we are shaping the future of sustainable energy. You will report to the Head of Business Development Germany.
This role primarily focuses on the German market, but you will likely also contribute to international projects by providing support and knowledge sharing across regions.
You can be based in Berlin or elsewhere in Germany working from remote, with the willingness to travel within Germany and to Stockholm from time to time.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Manage the overall grid connection process during the project development phase. This includes reviewing and approving grid agreements, and supporting our project developer and possibly third party developers in negotiating connection terms (e.g. tariffs, flexible connection terms, connection costs, technical requirements, applicable industry standards).
- Establish best practice in the grid connection process, with a focus on maximizing project value for future optimization, minimizing CAPEX (cost to connect) and optimizing OPEX (grid fees).
- Act as the interface between the Engineering, Procurement and the Business and Project Development teams, ensuring that all terms and conditions are technically and commercially viable.
- Build strong relationships and maintain effective communication with external stakeholders, focusing primarily on grid-related entities such as Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs), as well as industry organizations, regulatory authorities, and other relevant parties.
- Define and monitor best practice for technical requirements related to BESS impact on the grid, ensuring feasibility through thorough analysis and research.
- Support project development in terms of technical site layout, general process and conditions.
- Contribute to the development of efficient internal processes and generously share knowledge and experience with the organization.
- Conduct risk assessment and continually evaluate project risks and identify potential project delays.
- Once the site reaches Ready to Build (RTB) status, support efforts to optimize project terms and conditions.
Other responsibilities include: - Monitor and participate in industry developments and evolving standards related to energy topics.
- Support business development in international projects, e.g. technical set-up.
Your experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
- Experience in grid connection work is mandatory, connections to grid operators in your personal network are a plus.
- Relevant project management experience from the energy sector.
- Strong technical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, in particular in German and English, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Your personal skills
In addition to relevant work experience, we’re looking for someone with the right personal skills and motivation, and a genuine passion for renewable energy.
- A committed and unpretentious person who is eager to learn and continuously improve.
- Solution-oriented, helpful and curious, with a proactive approach to exploring innovative solutions.
- A self-starter who actively seeks growth opportunities and takes initiative in dynamic environments.
- Last but not least, if you're also a friendly team player, you'll fit right in.
