Power Trader
About us
Ingrid was born out of a simple belief: the energy transition must move faster and work smarter. We're pioneers at the forefront of the global energy transition — pushing boundaries, turning bold ideas into reality, and solving the problems that matter most.
The INtelligent GRID of tomorrow needs to absorb and release more power. We develop, build and operate high-performance batteries — the lungs of modern energy infrastructure — enabling a more flexible and resilient energy supply across Europe. With 500 MW already deployed across the Nordics and rapid expansion into continental Europe, we manage, optimise and trade both our own assets and those of third parties through our sophisticated tech platform, making every battery — and the entire grid — stronger.
About the role
We’re growing our BESS and renewable trading team and looking for a power trader to take operational ownership of our trading algorithms across day-ahead auctions, Nordic ancillary capacity auctions, and the continuous intraday market. This is a hands-on, market-facing role: you’ll be the person monitoring the algorithms and trade execution, tuning parameters, and making sure our algorithms behave as intended in live markets, pairing strong market knowledge and technical fluency with disciplined execution — rather than building models from scratch.
You’ll also contribute to the development of new trading strategies and work in close cooperation with our Asset Management, Algo, Quant, and Engineering teams to keep trading activity aligned with the broader portfolio and technical roadmap.
The role requires operational shift work, including weekend coverage, to ensure our trading algorithms are monitored across all trading and delivery hours.
What you'll do
Monitor and operate BESS trading algorithms in real time across day-ahead, ancillary, and intraday markets — adjusting parameters and intervening or overriding the automated engine when needed, in response to changing market conditions or unexpected events (e.g. price anomalies, grid events or asset outages).
Validate that bids generated by the optimization engine are correctly submitted to day-ahead auctions and Nordic ancillary capacity auctions (FCR, aFRR, mFRR).
Reconcile and validate trade results against expected outcomes, flagging and investigating discrepancies.
Track and report on algorithm performance across all traded markets, identifying where live performance deviates from theoretical/backtested expectations.
Act as the operational point of contact for settlement, imbalance, and BRP-related matters, including day-to-day interactions with TSOs and other market counterparties.
Support the algo and quant teams in developing and refining new trading strategies across ancillary, day-ahead, and intraday markets, contributing a trader’s-eye view of market behaviour and edge cases.
Act as the operational link between live trading and the Asset Management, Algo, and Engineering teams, keeping trading activity aligned with portfolio, technical, and strategic requirements.
Back test algorithm performance and contribute to the evaluation framework used to assess new strategies before deployment.
Your qualifications and experience
Prior experience in European physical power markets is highly valued — trading desk, portfolio management, or similar operational role.
Solid understanding of wholesale power markets (day-ahead, intraday, balancing) and how Nordic ancillary service markets function (FCR, aFRR, mFRR).
Understanding of BESS revenue streams and how they interact across markets.
Good knowledge of the energy regulatory landscape, including REMIT, BRP obligations, settlement and imbalance processes, TSO market prequalification requirements, and day-to-day interactions with TSOs.
Comfortable working with algorithmic and automated trading setups.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and make real-time decisions under pressure.
Programming skills, particularly Python, for analysing algo output and reviewing back tests — not required, but a strong plus.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, business, finance, physics, energy systems), or equivalent practical experience.
Your personal skills
Beyond technical experience, we’re looking for someone with the right mindset and a genuine passion for renewable energy, including:
Ownership and reliability — taking full responsibility for the algorithms and trades to drive commercial performance across Ingrid’s portfolio.
Diligence and attention to detail — catching the bid or result that doesn’t look right, every time.
Analytical and structured thinking — spotting patterns in performance data and grounding them in real market behaviour.
Communication and collaboration — clear handovers between shifts, and generous knowledge-sharing with the algo and quant teams.
Adaptability and agility — comfortable with a shift schedule that includes weekends, and with markets that don’t always behave as expected.
Why join us?
